The claim was originally made by John Schindler, a former National Security Agency analyst, writing in a column for the New York Observer.

But Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), of the House Intelligence Committee, confirmed that he has heard from intelligence officials who have reservations about sharing the full breadth of their knowledge with Trump. "They want to know who is a mover and shaker in".

Before taking office, Trump aides denied reports that plans were in the works to revamp the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He is a member of Trump's economic advisory council.

Trump's feud with American intelligence services stems mostly from the president and analysts being at odds over just how, if at all, Trump is compromised or was aided in the election by Russian Federation.

Flynn was blamed for lying to Vice President Mike Pence about contact he had with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in late December immediately after then-President Barack Obama leveled sanctions against Moscow related to election-year computer hacking in the U.S.

Intelligence insiders this week revealed that the USA spy community is withholding information from the Trump administration because they believe his White House could be compromised by the Russian government.

"Congress should be doing independent oversight of the Executive Branch and protecting whistleblowers, not running interference while the White House conceals their abuses and misleads the American people for weeks".

Trump this week blasted the nation's intelligence community over leaked phone conversations former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn had with a Russian ambassador over United States sanctions.

The report underscores the narrative that a major rift, even a feud, is on between Trump and the intelligence agencies.

The officials would not disclose many details, including what was discussed on the calls, the identity of the Russian intelligence officials who participated, and how many of Mr. Trump's advisers were talking to the Russians.

The ongoing confrontation between the intelligence community and the White House has only further fueled claims in the pro-Trump political blogosphere that Barack Obama is overseeing a shadow government in Washington consisting of his loyalists within the federal agencies and the intelligence community.
