Serging Up North: Raptors Get Ibaka

Kyle Lowry

Really the one big concern about this trade is that the Magic essentially swapped Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, and Ersan Ilyasova for Terrance Ross and a first round pick. Will Mario Hezonja start to lose minutes to Ross, or will the Magic just open the door and see what they have in their 2nd year player. Toronto intends to re-sign Ibaka and not simply make him a rental for their playoff push this season.

Love's absence will put further stress on Cleveland's depth and could force general manager David Griffin to make a major move before the February 23 trading deadline. Ross is in the second season of a three-year, $30-million contact.

This is a brilliant move on the Raptors part as they will look to get back on track after losing six of their last 10 games and falling into a fourth-place tie wth the Atlanta Hawks.

While most popular opinion would have the Toronto Raptors acquiring Paul Millsap, I can't say I share the same thought.

Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan banned Oakley on Friday, two days after the former power forward had an altercation with security guards while attending a game.

As the National Basketball Association trade deadline draws nearer, the Toronto Raptors have landed one of the biggest names said to be available in a swap: Orlando Magic big man Serge Ibaka.

'Prison Bae' Jeremy Meeks Makes NY Fashion Week Debut
Meeks became an internet sensation in 2014 when his police booking photo went viral. "Like my father, I never back down from challenges", she said with a smile.

Ujiri, the team president along with GM Jeff Weltman have always been enamoured by Ibaka, a 6-foot-10 native of the Republic of Congo.

A new contract for Lowry, Patterson and Ibaka puts a ceiling on what the Raptors can be, but there are probably 25 teams that'd kill to be in their shoes.

He's a free agent at the end of this season and it makes no sense to give up both Ross and a first rounder if you can't keep the one returning asset in the fold for more than a half season.

The Miami Heat are probably the most surprising playoff contenders to emerge this season. Only Jodie Meeks is shooting better from 3-point range for the Magic.

Giving up on Ibaka also helps clear a frontcourt logjam with Bismack Biyombo and Nikola Vucevic.
