HTC said that pre-order sales for the HTC U Ultra, which carries a price tag of NT$28,900 (US$909) in Taiwan, will start on January 18.

HTC U Ultra comes with a big 5.7-inch Quad HD display.

The 64GB variant will come with Gorilla Glass 5 protection while the 128GB version will come with Sapphire glass.

Storage for the U Play is 32GB or 64GB depending on region (the United Kingdom tends to get the lesser when two versions are made, but this is yet to be confirmed), and 3GB or 4GB of RAM. The main camera has a 12mp BSI CMOS sensor (1.55micron pixels) and a bright f/1.8 lens, with Phase Detection and Laser Auto Focus (AF), and the lens also features Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). The U Play has dual microphones with noise cancellation, along with HTC USonic, while the U Ultra has four microphones for 3D Audio, USonic, BoomSound Hi-Fi edition and it is Hi-Res audio certified. HTC U Ultra and U Play boasts of "liquid surface" curved glass. The U line also boosts selfie quality with 16 mp front camera that allows users to switch between the camera's regular high-resolution function or its UltraPixel setting for low-light situations. A 2,500 mAh battery will power the device. It'll be available in white, blue, pink, and black when it launches.

To make the smartphone more artificially intelligent, HTC has introduced Sense Companion, which is a virtual voice-activated assistant, along with the flagship. It also has a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel front camera. HTC U Play comes with the company's new Sense companion, a voice-controlled smart assistant similar to the Google Assistant and Siri. As for the One X10, it will have a 5.5-inch display screen, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage. However, battery capacity is slashed from 3,000 mAh to 2,500 mAh.

The HTC Sense Companion is said to learn from the user, and provide recommendations such as suggesting you dress warm and leave for work earlier on a snowy day; reminding you to charge if it figures you need more power to last until you get home, and even recommending the ideal restaurant when you're away for the weekend. The HTC U Ultra will be priced at $749 and the HTC U Play will be priced at $440.

The HTC U Play is a smaller variant, without a secondary display. HTC U Ultra completely missed this feature, which means that the phone is compatible with just HTC devices despite having a universal port. MicroSD cards up to 2TB in size can be used to expand the storage.

The U Ultra is running Android 7.0 Nougat under HTC's proprietary Sense UI.

If that doesn't bother you, then you won't have to wait long to get your hands on either of these phones, with the HTC U Ultra release date set for mid-February for Europe and earlier for Asia, with confirmation still coming for other territories.
